Aussie time?
Just a quick question for anybody that knows. I was offered a position in Victoria, Australia. All the right things .....salary, visa sponsorship, housing, ..... the works! but the big BUT is I have read that you can not import any type of snake into Australia:( This would not be good as I love my snakes and don't want to loose them(and would hate to start over). I can take my dogs (30 days of quarantine), cats and girl, but no snakes! Any Aussies or Expats here that know any loop holes or anything please let me know:)

I know their import laws are VERY strict. Here is a link that should answer some of your questions.

Re: Aussie time?
Importing animals in or out of OZ is pretty much impossible unless you are a respected, recognized zoo....and then there is still tons of red tape.

Re: Aussie time?
Do you anticipate this being a permanent move? If not, maybe someone can care for your animals for you while you're there and they'll be waiting for you when you come back?

Project projection is three years:( this was offered(thrust) on me today so I have some time to think about it. But I had not thought about leaving them with someone.....that may be an option:tears: but i would miss them.

Personally, I would sell my collection and move to Australia.
Australia has many species of reptiles that you will NEVER see in the US. I would take the money earned from selling your collection and see what Australia has to offer....Kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity.
A pair of varanus brevicauda would be a nice captive while you are there ;)
But that is just my opinion...take it or leave it :handshake

The only things being 'given up' are snakes. What an incredible opportunity :gj: The choice is yours. If it were mine, I'd go in a heart beat :gj:
