Is Tail Wagging a Good or Bad thing (in my case)
I have a normal pair that i intend on breeding this upcoming season.I got the female about 1 month ago and the male yesterday.I was sitting around the house bored cuz schools out and decided to place the snake together just to see what would happen.Well about 20 min passed with them just exploring the cage when the newest snake (the male) slid across her back and instantly she started wagging' her tail (note she had not wagged it at all before now) I thought I read alot of books and articles saying tail wagging was a good thing when it comes to breeding balls. So I let her continue for about 10 min and during this whole time the male would run every time the tail would come anywhere near him almost like he was scared. He really didnt interest in the female. So that brong up some questions

1.Is tail wagging a good thing?
2.Is it wagged its tail does this always mean it a female
3.If only females wagged there tails does it mean cuz they are ready to breed
4.Any reason why the male didnt really show interest

tail wagging is a good sign.. but you're taking a big risk putting the new snake with the one you already have. Proper quarantine time of at least 60 days is necessary to ensure that the new snake doesn't not have anything that could be passed on to your older snake(s).

tail wagging is good, quarantine is great, giving everything time is better.

males and females may not be receptive to breed at times for different reasons. just because the male was not receptive now doesnt mean that under proper conditions he wont be either. so dont worry about it and do lots of research while preparing for your breeding season.:gj:

I saw quarantine discussed which is a very good thing. I saw that someone asked how old the male is, which would indicate possible sexual maturity. But nobody has asked how old/big the female is? She obviously thinks she's big enough, because of the tail wagging, but you don't want to breed too small/young of a female!

usually when I see the female tail wagging they do not hook up that night but they will soon (the next time they are introduced) I doubt that is really a rule, but just usually how it seems to me.
