Moving eggs

So, it turns out that my first clutch of eggs this year are scheduled to hatch right around July 15th. This wouldn't be an issue, except that we'll be moving right about then, too.

Does anyone have suggestions on moving close to term eggs? It's quite possible they will pip before then and all be out, but if they aren't what's the risk of hurting the babies?

We're only going about 20 miles away - it would be a quick trip over mostly highway roads so minimal jostling. If it's better to leave them, I'll work it out with our current landlord and bring them after they start hatching.

if they are already developed i wouldnt see a problem with it

im moving july 18th and have 2 clutchs in there that should pip that week AND expect one clutch to be laid early July... im trying to figure out how im going to move them and get the incubator back up to heat fast....

I'm ordering some heat packs this week and a couple of styrofoam coolers as well as some digital thermometers and I'm taking my eggs with me to NC while I'm up there for a week. They're due to hatch while I'm there and after talking to Kevin and Kara about it, I feel comfortable doing so.

No way am I missing my first clutches hatching AND Karl's a weanie and won't move the babies into tubs if they hatched while I'm gone. So they're coming with me!

considering that heat packs reach 130+ and the eggs are going to be in a container how are you keeping them at the correct temps?

i really need to know because im scared that i will kill these eggs as they will only be 18 days old when they have to be moved and out of the incubator while it gets up to heat

Insulation between the egg box and the heat pack. I'll be consulting them again before I head out. The thermometer will be on the outside so I can monitor the temps without cracking the cooler unless it's needed.

I would mark the tops of them so you know which side is up and not turn them. I use a grease pencil.
