Nolvasan vs. Chlorhexidine

I have decided to change the disinfectant that I have been using and narrowed it down to Nolvasan and Chlorhexidine. The main difference between the two seems to be that the Nolvasan seems to be stronger and covers a wider spectrum of bacteria, and is a virucide as well. It also costs twice as much, but that doesn't really matter to me as much as using the best product. For those of you who have experience with both, I would like to hear your thoughts.

I thought chlorhexidine gluconate was the generic of Novalsan?? :confused:

I think they very close but Novalsan may have some extra ingredients to cover a wider spectrum of bacteria.

my vet recommened a product called A-33 DRY which is a detergent/disinfectant/odor counteractant and it works great.with a 10 minute soak time it kills the aids virus yet is easy on the hands and pleasant smelling.

I think this is overkill (pardon the pun) for every day snake care.

I currently use Chlorhexidine. I also started using BIOSHIELD 75 from Pro Products.

So far so good. With both of those though you have to leave it on for on on 10 minute contact time.

And the Bioshield has on on 3 minute contact time. With an advertised 3 months of protection. I like the stuff so far.

Just my 2 pennies.

i couldn't download the first report for some reason.the second report only list hazards from power form (not yet mixed with water) as corrosive,am i missing something?

It is, but according to the write up's I've seen the Chlorhexidine isn't anti-viral.

Nolvasan (chlorhexidine diacetate), the only EPA-registered chlorhexidine disinfectant, works against at least 60 different bacteria, fungi, yeasts, and viruses.
