    Incubator / Power Outage
I converted an old standup freezer into an incubator. Yesterday the power went out in my house for approximately 3.5 - 4 hours. The temperature in the incubator dropped from 89 F to 81 F. After the power came back on, it all went back to normal within 30 minuets or so.

I have 28 eggs in the incubator. They are in 6qt iris tubs with hatchrite as substrate. The eggs are in various stages of the incubation process. Some have been in for about 1.5 months, and others .5 months.

Are they going to be alright? Thanks to everyone who replies...

    Hey Eddie,
I dont have a definite answer, but it seems to be that time of the year. There are a couple threads floating around dealing with power outages and incubators. I went thru the same ordeal about a month ago, but my incubator was off for a couple hours...on the power was back on, I candled the eggs a couple days later and they seem okay....but I guess I will for sure find out in a couple of weeks. So I would say...they should be fine, if you wanna double check...candle them.

Hope this helps~! Good Luck! :salute:

Thanks, I didn't think about candling them. I will do that when I get home from work.

I also think that I will have a clutch waiting for me when I get home. I check on one of my females this morning, and she looks like she was about to blow...
