    Blood around nose/mouth of f/t ??
In the latest batch of frozen mice, a few of them have what I am pretty sure is blood around their nose and mouth. Yuk!

What would cause this? Should I be concerned or can I go ahead and use them?

It happens sometimes. I wouldn't worry about it.

when they're frozen, those tiny blood vessels burst... then when they thaw, they leak blood.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'd say 2 out of every 10 f/t I feed are the same way :D

It happens fairly often. Doesn't appear to be a problem...in fact, I get a stronger feeding response sometimes :D

they were probably killed by a quick crack onto a hard object,& bled a little, thats how I kill mine I think its more humane than CO2,very fast.

head trauma is more humane than dying in your sleep?

What Colin said though, it's a normal thing. Freezing and thawing will do that.

no debate, a qiuck crack & then feed, always done it that way,on a mass scale CO2 is best.

Thanks for all the responses. I should have been more clear that these already have the blood in their frozen state. I've seen ones that leak in the defrosting process before, but I don't recall seeing ones that must have bled either in the process of dying or freezing.

Anyway, it seems like you all agree it is nothing to worry about. Thanks again.
