Does any one know about owning coons?
Someone just called me because she heard that I care for a lot of animals, and have rehibilitated a few squirells, and she asked if I could take in three baby racoons that she found- the mom was dead. I live in Michigan- do any of you know the laws about owning/rehabilitiating racoons? If so, please let me know or show me a link or something, cause I cant find any thing:oops:

It would be illegal for you to do so in Michigan. Some do it anyway. They are cute when they are young but grow up and bite people and destroy things. At Kensington Park The Rangers raise them. They might take them in. MI.gov would tell you how to obtain a wildlife rehabilitation permit from the DNR. I don't think that it would be easy to get one.

Yea, I wasn't planning on keeping them as pets- that would be like having some two year olds around for twelve or so years, something I cant handle lol- but that works, I will call there and see if they will. I like about 30min away from there and go disc golfing there a lot, so if they will take them then I will just drive them up then. Thank you!

I know my stepmother rehabbed a racoon in IL, but she had a permit. She had to bottle feed it for a while, but I don't know the rest of the details. I was going to an out of state college at the time.
