    Making Fun of Bad Langauge
It's quite common for us English speakers to laugh at and/or make fun of non-Native speakers when they screw something up.

I wonder if the same is true in reverse. If I screwed up some Spanish sentence, would a Spanish person roll over laughing?

I know it happens, which is why I am so cautious about what I say...

Sometimes mistakes turn out to be real funny, and because you laugh does not mean you make fun of the person.

Trust me I get laugh at very often :O (I was laugh at a lot last week )

Back in the olden days when I was in the US Army in Germany the Germans would laugh openly at Americans that butchered the German language. Europeans in general feel a superiority to Americans because most Americans speak only English and most (Continental) Europeans are at least trilingual. In Europe most Countries are the size of States here and if you travel in an area the size of a Tri- State area 3 different languages are in use, while here (more so in the recent past) English is all that is in common use. In Michigan most Spanish speakers assume that no Gringos at all speak Spanish and often make arses of themselves talking about people right in front of them.
