    ? About Babies
I have a question about a few babies I have. My first clutch of 08 started to hatch the other day. Today they are all out the 1st of June would be 60 days. Well the last two that came out have a bit of their cord hanging. Its not to bad I think the one has fallen off already. I just took the last one out of the incubator and it has the same thing going on. Its just a little bit of it not the whole thing. Maybe hangs down about an inch with a small clump at the end. I remember reading some where that you just keep them on damp paper, and its its sucked up into the baby. Any thoughts on what to do. Like I said the one looks like some of it has fallen off already. Should I just leave it? Should I tie it off?

Just keep them humid, and they will all fall off (FOR THE MOST PART)

Then, you will see the Belly Buttons ;)

That will also go away in a couple of weeks to months.

Ok thanks I think the one fell off already. So just keep the humidity up or keep them damp? Thanks again.

What we were advised to do (and we've done so far with our two new clutches) is to keep the hatchlings on damp, not soaking wet, paper towel as a substrate until they go through their first shed about a week to 10 days after hatching. Then put them on dry paper towels after they've shed.

Yeah I know thats what I do with all my new hatched babies. The thing is I have two that their embilical cords. If thats what it is didnt go up inside all the way. They each have a piece hanging out still. Not the whole thing just about 1 inch of it. One has had most of it fall off. The other looks about like it did when I found them. I would post pics but its nasty and I dont want to bother them anymore than changing their paper towels once a day. Should I keep their paper damp or just keep the humidity up.

I wish I had far more experience to share here but I'm on my first two clutches this year. I'd keep them on damp papertowels anyways until you get that first shed and especially with that one with the umbilicus still attached. Hopefully one of our very experienced breeders can chime in here.
