    newb with a cleaning question
i was wondering how often i should sanitize the physical inside of my tank. By physical inside i mean the inside glass walls and floor when the tank is empty. this is rather difficult when i need to do it because i have to lean the tank on the side of my bathroom tub and splash it out with buckets of water after i sanitize it with baby wipes. i change the substrate and sanitize his hides, fake plants, etc. about once every week. so how long should i wash out the inside glass in his tank?

also, are accurites waterproof? i don't know how to sanitize them without getting them wet.

    Thanks,

    -Ben S.

An accurite is not waterproof. I suppose you could take an isopropyl alocohol wipe and swab the outside of it.

    I use chlorhexidine: http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.h...2-00b0d0204ae5
    or here: http://www.reptilebasics.com/Chlorhe...e-p-16138.html
I guess it just depends on where you live (for shipping!)
You don't need to rinse, just spray and wipe and then air dry.
    Great stuff :gj:

EDIT> Forgot to mention the Accurite thing: I very gently wipe down the Accurite every now and again and also make sure that each Accurite lives with its own snake. Sometimes I'll need to take out the battery and let it dry for some days. They are, however, DOA when the snake dumps them into their water bowls....

I use cleaning wipes every week. give that a shot...much easier than giving a full scrub down with water and bleach.

I've seen a few posts around here with people that have had some bad experiences with wipes. Presumably because they didn't rinse throughly so if you use them be sure to rinse really well

I get free Chlorohex from my GF, shes a vet tech, and I do it once a week. It works wonders.....4 Tbsp per gallon.

The residue from the wipes. Just wiped down the enclosure and that was it.

Guess as long as your snakes aren't bothered by it you're fine, but the chemical is likely still there to some extent. At least for a while.
