    Mark on head after shed?
    Hi guys,

Just a quick question, the other day Clyde shed as per normal, no problems (apart from him having a poo right on top of most of his shed skin for me to clean up in the morning), his eye caps came off fine and there was a tiny little bit left on the tip of his tail. So I proceeded to soak him just to help get this little bit off and noticed on his head he had a patch which looked like unshed skin.

It's pale compared to the rest of his freshly coloured skin, but when I checked his old skin, it had in fact shed ok but it was dark coloured on the skin and had the exact pattern of what's on his head.

    Here's a pic:

After his soak (where the little bit of skin came off his tail tip no probs), I gently rubbed his head with a wet piece of cloth, but it wasn't budging at all, so I left it and thought I'd ask you guys if it's anything to be concerned about? No pics of the skin unfortunately, as it was covered in one of Clyde's little presents :weirdface

    Thanks people! :D

I'm keen to find out as well. My Samson has something similar which has remained from his last shed:confused:

It's sort of an area where he peeled off the "new skin" with the old. It'll be fine and should go away with the next shed. Nothing to worry about.

Ahhh, thanks for that! I didn't think it was anything too bad, but obviously it's better to be safe than sorry! :D

Is there anything that would have caused this, or is it just one of them things that happens from time to time? I'll make changes if needs be :)

    :gj:

Yea sometimes there are areas that don't produce the right amount of fluid to help separate the old skin and new. So it peels the top layer of the scale off.

To ensure the fluid build up occurs properly and your bp sheds in full, just remember to keep the humidity 50-60% always, and a little higher once in blue. You will soon get the feel for what works for you and your snake well in terms of how high to bump the humidity during shed. I bump to 65-70%.

And don't forget - soaking BEFORE your bp has shed, can deplete that important layer of fluid between the old skin and new, so do not soak the snake unless it has already had a poor shed.

Thanks for the advice! That's pretty much what I'm doing. His humidty is always at 50%, and I put it up to about 65% when he's in blue. Might try him up to 70% next time just to ensure he has enough. :sweeet:

I've never soaked him prior to him shedding, so I think I'm on the right tracks! :D

Thanks once again! Put my mind to rest! :)

I found LD had a few teeny tiny peices left on his head and back if I kept him around 60% and didn't bump up the humidity, so I changed it up on his next shed and bumped higher, and no spots. Sounds like your on the right track indeed EvilDes!
