ASF pinkie size comparison?
How big is an ASF pinkie compared to a mouse or a regular rat pink?
Could somebody post some comparison pictures?
I've been having to buy or fuss a lot more with trying to get pinkies for my variable kingsnakes and have considered raising my own instead.
However, rat pinks are too big for the kings, and mouse pinks are too small. Right now the kings get 2 mouse pinks.

Oo, like goldie locks and the 3 pinkies!

Here is a pic of a Rat Pup compared to an ASF Pup.
Sorry for the bad pic.

Re: ASF pinkie size comparison?
ASF pinky newborns are close to the same size as mouse pinky newborns. maybe a hair bigger.
My kingsnake, just like all the rest of my snakes, LOVES his ASF's!

Just to clarify, that's not a rat "pup". Since this member is asking about a specific growth stage of rodent we do need to be specific here. A lot of folks use the general term "pup" to mean any nursing rodent but actually it's a bit misleading. That rat is just starting to get fuzz as it's hair growth occurs so it's technically a older pink/young fuzzy rat.
With rats it basically goes.....pink, fuzzy (aka crawler), pup, weanling
With mice it's....pink, fuzzy, hopper, weanling
Not sure what it is with ASF's since they are actually born fuzzy. :) Generally though ASF's are about 2 to 2.5 times the size of mice at most development stages. :)

ASFs are 2-2.5 times the size of mice? I just had my first litter of ASFs after breeding regular rats for a long time and the pinks are TINY. I have never bred mice but I can't imagine the pinks being that much smaller than the ASF pinks.
Re: ASF pinkie size comparison?
Hmm... yea... I'd almost say the mice pinks start out a smidge smaller than ASF. Of course, I've only had a few mouse pinks way back when. I could be mistaken.

Been a long time since I've had mouse pinks but my ASF's pinks are significantly bigger than what I remember mouse pinks to be, Jamie. I'll have to try and grab a few to weigh them (if I can find gloves their mamma's can't bite me through that is) but they are definitely bigger around here from what I've experienced. As they mature they do get about twice the size of a mouse, though seem to take a lot longer to get to full maturity than mice do.
Perhaps it's to do with my litter sizes. The ASF's I am breeding don't seem to drop huge litters numberwise but their offspring are a darn good size right from the get go.
