    Member Map?
I dont know if this exists yet or not, but I think it would be a cool idea. I dont have the expertise to put it together, but maybe in a few months someone with some more programming or whatnot skill will be able to pull something together.

I was thinking of something map-ish to see what other bp.net members and other herp related businesses, etc are located. I think it would really help people find more stuff locally, which would help out the local econ, make things easier on the buyer and just reassure everyone that the community is still keeping in contact. Even if a map didnt work, maybe even a list of members and organizations for a certain region would work out. For instance, I live in Michigan (Southern for the summer, Lansing/Central area for the remainder), so I could start a list something like this, and as people around me see it, they could add to it.

    South/Central Michigan

    Other:
    Preuss Pets--Lansing-- http://preusspets.com/
Continental Carbonic (Dry ice) -- http://www.continentalcarbonic.com/
Quality Dairy (Dry ice again)(Lansing, South Washington store)-- http://qualitydairy.com/qd/
    Crossroads Animal Hospital--Jackson--(517) 784-1111

I dont know if this is just a bad idea or if I am on to something, let me know. I know we have a vet list already going as a sticky, so I suppose those could be left out. I think this would be useful, especially for possible hard to find stuff or advice. We could stick everything together like I have above, or maybe make a few categories for diff threads etc.

Let me know what you all think.

True, and that would kind of kill the usefulness, but at least we would have a list of people who obviously dont mind if people with a common interested know the general ish area where they live. I have no problem saying that right now I live in Southern Michigan, but that in the Fall I will be moving back up to Lansing to go back to MSU. The way I see it is

    1) If someone wants to find you, they will. If you are not a super secret governemt cool thing that can do crazy stuff, then even the average joe can probably find your info.

    2) There are xxxxxxxxx number of people in xxxxx place, what are the chances that if they are just trying to strike up a connection for a common interest, ie bp's etc, what are the chances of something going badly, and why would they even

nevermind i realized i just started rambling, time for some food to get my brain back

You can get around that by basing it on the web server's access_log file, which contains the IP of each request. Cross reference those to ARIN, and viola, pretty map.
