Sad news... *Graphic warning*
Well, during the nightly egg check I noticed that the wee-little egg didn't look the same. There was a seeping that had just started around the window. I nudged it, and no movement from the baby. Being at 52 days, I grabbed the scissors and made a cut. Unforantly the baby had passed. I spoke with Cue, and he suggested that I examine the baby. After removing it from the egg and weighing it... it was very obvious that it was deformed. Thanks for the great advice Chris... I felt much better after knowing that it wasn't something that I did that made the tiny thing expire.
So I thought this would be interesting for everyone to see.... even if you've experienced it before.
Weighing 16 grams...

Thanks you... I'm really no as upset as I was before I knew that it was deformed... still sad, but I don't feel as responsible!
Re: Sad news... *Graphic warning*
that sucks, im sorry for the loss. its not easy losing a snake no matter what it is.
how are the others? did that one not even finish absorbing its yoke or was it pulled away?

I'm sorry for that. He is in a better place.

awe that sucks.
thanks for posting pics.
as weird as it seems...I kinda am interested in stuff like that. When I lost my eggs last year I had to cut them open to see what was going on. I got totally sick to my tummy while I was doing it.. but I am glad I did.
How is the rest of the clutch?

Thanks Nick... The other three seem fine... :please: Right after noticing that the small one was dead, and making a cut... I went ahead and cut a small flap in the other three. Not sure if that was the smart thing to do? Now I'm worried about them.
I have a small part of the press n seal pulled away under the egg box lid for ventilation, and the humidity is aprox 60% now.
Is that enough humidity for the 53 day old eggs that I cut to hatch OK? I know the box should not be air tight because they are air breathing now... Any input is appreciated!
On the little egg, the yoke was not completely absorbed, I pulled it away when I removed it from the egg...

Yea... it was interesting.. I saw where and how the yoke attaches to the egg... like you, there is a gross factor, but the interest in the inside of an egg over rides the "Eeewwww" part!
Thanks Meme !

Sorry about that :( But it is comforting knowing that it is not your fault. I had something similar with my first clutch a few years back; the egg was not hatching, and the snake inside was tiny and deformed. But it is good that you know that this is not your fault and can move on after learning from it and sharing it with us.
