PAM treatment not working?
I sprayed the provent a mite earlier this week, on Saturday i believe. I have newspaper as a substrate and i followed the directions carefully. It seems like it is working because mites aren't attached to her anymore but there was a mite crawling on her that i found. What's the deal? Has it not been long enough or should I retreat the cage?
Thanks
Re: PAM treatment not working?
Give it time. I would re-treat once a week for a few weeks. My experience is with ball pythons, but I would assume that treatment would be similar for a king/milk. With the ball pythons, you can give them a "bath", which will drown any mites that are currently on the snake. Use just enough water to cover the snake, let him/her soak for about a half hour, and watch VERY closely. The water should be at the same temperature as the snake (or very slightly warmer). Bath time is a good time to re-treat the cage. If you are using newspaper substrate during treatment (a good idea) you can pretreat the newspaper and simply switch it out during the snake's bath.
I can't imagine any problems doing the bath thing with a king/milk, but perhaps someone more knowledgeable about them will chime in.
