What in the world are these?
I have been having trouble with one of my plants. So I took it down today to have a look at it (it hangs from the ceiling) and this was what I found.

It looks as if something has dug a hole at the base of the plant and then sprinkled eggs (?) along its way out.
On this picture there is A) A spoon for size comparison, and B) an arrow following the slope of the dirt and leading down into the hole.

They do not look like any lizard eggs I've ever seen. And we only get tiny tree frogs around here. What the heck are they?!
Re: What in the world are these?
i guess you'll find out when they hatch

Thats a scary thought- what if their centapeids or something... I would probably literaly die of fright. lol.
Re: What in the world are these?
Those look a lot like centipede eggs, although I've never seen them scattered like that. If you're curious to see what they end up being, scoop out the eggs and a bit of soil and put them in a container with small holes to allow air circulation. Otherwise I would strongly recommend disposing of them.
Re: What in the world are these?
Since you said that you have been having problems with lizards in the house (another post) and they probably are some form of anole, i wonder if they could be anole eggs.
Re: What in the world are these?
Okay, I'm guessing you're not much of a plant person generally. The 'eggs' are actually fertilizer (likely osmocote or a similar brand). If you got the plant from a nursery or store, then likely they had just gotten around to fertilizing for spring growth. You can wait on them to hatch, but its going to be a looooooong wait. :O
Cheers,
Kat

:whisper: I used my own fertilizer months ago. Those have not been there until now. :P
Re: What in the world are these?
Also, I don't know if "momma" is still buried underneath the plant, and I do NOT want to find out. I'm a wuss. I am petrified of lizards and generally dislike most bugs. So I don't want to go digging around in the soil but it's SO hot here that just leaving the plant outside may kill it. >_< Emotional turmoil!
