    A few questions
I stopped by the pet store today in prep for my new addition and picked up some Leopard Gecko Dust (by TRex). Is that stuff good? I also got a jar of Calcium powder w/ Vitamin D3 (I know the D3 is not necessary, but it couldn't hurt, right?).

I was looking at their baby geckos and noticed they have an adult male for sale. Is it better to get one as a baby?
I have a 15 gallon tank with a ramp going to a 2nd level, for added floor space. Would that be too large and stress a younger gecko out? The adult looked very sweet and if he's friendly I might just bring him home with me:D Just looking for suggestions.

    Thanks:)

Actually...too much D3 can hurt. I would not use it too frequently.

I have never used the t rex brand stuff. Trex generally makes decent feeding supplement, so I don't see this issue in trying.

I supplement my lizards with a multivitamin 2x week, regular calcium 2x week....D3 calcium every other week or so.

Large spaces will not stress anything out if you put enough hide areas. It really depends on how you setup the enclosure.

I do not think there is any issue with getting older animals.....if they were properly taken care of in their raising ;)

I use the ICB leopard gecko dust. It is designed to be used with every feeding and has the proper proportions of calcium and D3. So I just keep a small dish of calcium free D3 in the tank. I got her back in the first of December and she seems to be active and healthy. I find the ICB leopard gecko dust to be much easier because I can use it with every feeding instead of having to keep track of when I used what supplement.

I keep mine in a 20 gallon tall fish tank and she has done great in it. I got her as a baby and has not shown any signs of stress. The important thing is to have at least 2 hides. One on the warm side and one on the cool side but it is better to have more. Hope this helps.

I have a cave hide and humid hide (whipped cream container) on the warm side, another cave on the cool side, and a half log hide on the 2nd level. I was so excited when I saw him exploring and he went up to the 2nd level! My hard work paid off :D He is sooo adorable, I cant wait to post some pics of him.

The ICB is the T-Rex Leo Dust right? I'll be getting some calcium w/out D3 on my way home from work today.

OO also forgot to mention: I have a 50 watt light on the cooler side of the tank to try and boost the temp up a little from room temp. With the light off the cool side stays room temp (72~75) but if I turn the light on it gets too hot (around 81) so should I just leave the light off or try to get a 25 watt bulb?

UTH is doing fine, hooked up to a t-stat, staying right around 88 degrees.

Yes, try a lower watt bulb or suspend the light if you can. I have to use red bulbs over my cool sides and have them suspended so one bulb is heating two tanks (the cool ends are next to each other).
The 'all in one' dusts are fine to use, adding the pure calcium should be all you need, he will lick it when he needs to! I always keep some in the tanks, just a little bit in a little plastic milk jug top, they do lick it...and track it around, they like to help :)

    Re: A few questions
Yes the ICB leopard gecko dust is made by T-Rex. The bottle should have a pink cap. If you do not have a background I recommend getting one of those styrofoam rock backgrounds. I think they are made by Hagen I ordered mine from reptilesupplies.com . They are really good if your gecko likes to climb. Mine climbs all over it at night and climbs on everything in her tank at night. They look really good if your going for a natural looking display.

I have aquarium background covering 3 sides of the tank, and insulation on top of that.
I also got some mealworms that I'm in the process of gutloading, have them in crushed granola + oatmeal with an apple slice for moisture. I gave him 2, which he ate right away, but I'm holding off on giving him any more until theyre gutloaded.
He likes climbing in the vines/leaves in his tank, and has gone up to the 2nd level. He went to drop down like, "screw the ramp," but I put my hand under him lol.

All in all he is soo sweet and adorable and I'm so glad I got him :D

Oh yeah, I got the lamp clamped up about 4-5 inches above the tank. Had to jerry-rig a piece of wood onto the screen top so I could have something to clamp it on to lol.
