Oh man head ach! Algebra!!!!
How do I answer this questions, I have been trying to figure this out forever, errrrrr, here it is,
Find the two consecutive odd integers who's sum is 76.
please help. lol:O
Re: Oh man head ach! Algebra!!!!
Easy! Divide 76 in half, that gives you 38. So, add 37 and 39 to get 76. There are your two consecutive odd integers. :)
Re: Oh man head ach! Algebra!!!!
thats what I told my bleeping math teacher. "NO thats wrong setup an equation!" lol thank you I thought i was going crazy!:rolleye2: thx.
Re: Oh man head ach! Algebra!!!!
I think the equation would be something like x+y= 76.... just dont know how you would show that they are consecutive....
Re: Oh man head ach! Algebra!!!!
X+Y=76. (x+1)+(y-1)=76 to be more accurate. My BF is a college Algebra tutor. :)
Re: Oh man head ach! Algebra!!!!
Hate to be a smarty pants but... (x+1)+(x-1)=76... wouldn't be x and y like (x+1)+(y-1)=76, just x
Re: Oh man head ach! Algebra!!!!
Tell your teacher math is for calculators :P

Your equations does resolve itself correctly. X + 1 + X - 1 = 76 --> 2X = 76 ----> X = 38 which is not the answer you are looking for. ;)
I think you'd need to do .... X + (X + 2) = 76 ----> 2X = 74 ----> X = 37 and X + 2 = 39
I think I got that right. :oops:
