How long would a 40gallon tank sustain a red tail?
How long would a 40tank be suitable for red tail? Im looking at getting on in the near future, if I have I can and want to make sure what I have will last a while.

What are the dimensions for that size tank? I have 2x3x12" reptile cages from RBI and they will house my boas until the snakes are about ~2 years old. I will then have them moved into their 6x2x2 enclosures (they are females!)

Yeah, so a couple of years. There are some who might argue that size would last a male close to his whole life... Not me. I'm wondering if a 4x2x2 would be large enough for a male.....
Are you getting a male or female? Do you have everything for the tank?

i have a male in a 5 X 3 X 3 cage and he seems fine but i wanna go to at least 10 feet cuz i can only get one hide box in there and his water dish but he goes from hot to cold so i think hes fine with just the one but i want more room and give him a lil something to climb on not to high off the ground and a big enough water bowl and 2 hides. i would say a 40 gallon would be good for a male at least 2 years maybe 3. but i dont have to much experiance with actually raising the boa since i bought mine full grown and with the cage hes in

It will depend on a few factors
-Genetics of the snake, if it is a dwarf or a normal
-temps, the higher the temps, the more rapidly they can process food
-feeding, the more you feed them, the faster they grow
I have seen 3 year old boas that were not even 3' long and I have seen 1 year old boas already over the 3-4' mark. There are too many variables.
