    Preterm labor??
Can an egg bearing snake have the equilivant to preterm labor???
OK, one of my new breeder western hognose is IMO doing this. She came in on 1-23 and weighed 411g. Started breeding her at the mid / end of March when she finished 60 days quar. She shed on 4-1. My thoughts are that is to early to be a prelay shed. Mind you this girl wolfs down rat pups like they are candy, and she eats every week without hesitation so a shed is not unexpected. Now here is where the wierd stuff starts to happen:

4/24 - found what appeared to be a slug egg in her poo while cage cleaning.
4/29 - She goes into blue
5/1 - She in fully opaque and refuses food
5/5 - Find an egg which is infertile and slightly caved in. Stick it in incubator (it wen't bad really quick)
5/6 - Find a big egg, but shell seems soft. Stick in incubator. Eyes have cleared back up and she ate two mouse hoppers. She weighs 491g
5/7 - Another egg is found. Again, shell seems soft.

So what is up with this???? She is laying one egg a day while in shed!! Anybody ever heard of such a thing?

Just found another big egg in a small pile of poo. Guess those hoppers moved through fast. Anybody have any ideas on why she is laying during shed and one egg at a time???

Have you talked to a vet? I guess I would be worried that she's eggbound or something?
