    FED while in shedding process
SO...i just recently got a ball python a few days ago. its 6 months. well i noticed it was in the shedding process. i fed it yesterday. was it a bad idea that i fed it while in that process?

oh yea and do mice have small fleas? as my ball was feeding i noticed a small flea looking thing crawling around under the snakes mouth. i think it was black. was this a mite?? or could it of just been like a flea off the mouse.

i never noticed any things on it befor the mouse came along.

    any advice?
    thanx:confused:

Sounds like a mite. Mites usually hang out under the chin, and will actually engorge themselves under the skin there. Time for some PAM (provent-a-mite). You can purchase PAM online and it can be used to pre-treat enclosures, or treat them once an infestation has occured. As long as you follow the instructions on the can, it will work. Sometimes it takes two rounds.

Feeding during shedding is fine, just make sure you don't handle him for 48 hours after eating, or until the whole shedding process is complete.
