Tut Gets Even!!!

Well Tut needed his meds today. He has gotten wise to what we are up to. So I sit and wait for him to come out of his shell. thinking if I could get a hold of one tort foot that he would bring his head out to get me to let go. Then I could easily administer his meds. NOPE! He would have none of it!! I got ahold of one front foot and held on! I had no idea how powerful a ten lb. tort could be! He yanked his foot back in with me still holding on. Then started the BIG SQUEEZE! I couldn't get loose for over five minutes. The entire time it felt like he was crushing my thumb which was behind his leg. WOW! What strength! Now my thumb is swollen and sore and he still needs his meds.:( Next time I will use an object to keep him from clamping down.

Ouch!!!

I assume you giving an injection into the front leg? When I had to do it there was no reason to pull the leg out, I just slipped it between two scales and it worked just fine.

No, we actually have to get his mouth all the way open. The amount he is taking comes in a good size syringe. I've given shots before, not an issue. I usually do as you said and go between the scales.

Owie! You wouldn't think that you could be overpowered by a ten pound turtle. You didn't hear any giggling did you?
