Tank help confused :(

Could someone give me some advice because I'm really confused? recently got a Royal Python and its my first ever as I've only owned a corn before, anyway my Royal is currently 1 foot and 20 inches and she's in a plastic box which measures 1 foot and 17 inches, and it looks really tight, so I rang 2 reptiles pet shops and one said I should keep her in that and the other one said it wouldn't hurt to put her into a 3 foot vivarium as long as I packed it with plenty of plants, hides and logs.

Which one is the right advice? :(

They're both correct, but each one has it's own sets of pros and cons. Aquariums are pretty notorius for being difficult to maintain proper temps and humidity. Tubs have the con of not being very pleasing to the eye.

There are more, anything in specific you would like to know about each?

There is always the third option~ a proper reptile cage giving the best of both worlds! :D

So would it be ok if I tried her in a 3 foot viv and if theres any sign of stress transfer her into her box again? I want her to be stress free as possible.

And what age do you think she is for her size and the breeder never told me, all I know she's an 07.

From what I have heard, the length and width of the box/tub should be right around the length of the snake.

I have some girls up to 800 grams in the size she's describing. It sounds like a 15 qt tub. Nothing wrong with that, it's a good choice.

You can move her, but remember to really watch for signs of stress, and giving her the week of no disturbing will help her settle in. ;)

edit: I love those cages McKinsey! I wish I had one for all of my babies. Gah, that would cost sooo much though. :P

I just wanted to add that sometimes moving a snake around too much is counter productive. Pick an enclosure you feel best working with and give it a go for a couple weeks. I would personally leave the snake be for now and making sure my husbandry is spot on. In 2 or 3 weeks, if you can't get it to eat after that then I would consider trying another enclosure.

Take your time to gather information, assess your snake's housing needs and so forth before you make any major changes. The change alone will cause some stress, that's to be expected really. Make sure that after you do move the snake to whatever you choose that you allow the snake to settle in properly. Basically treating it like it just arrived that day.
