    age question
    I got a corn snake yesterday, he's a captive bred and he's ~4 feet.
When I bought him I asked to know how old he was and the lady told me he was about 1 year old.

Can that be right? 1 year old and be 4 feet?

I've read adults reach 3-5 feet.
Is 1 year old considered an 'adult'?

I'm kind of new to this so I thought I'd ask.
I know that captive bred snakes aren't over fed so I imagine their grow rate is based on how much they eat plus genetics, correct?

    Thanks in advance.

Each snake grows at their own rate. My big Ghost male corn is a little over 4' and around 2.5 years old, while my new 9 month old female HypoBloodred is the size of a hatchling (but growing nicely now).

There's really no reliable way to tell age by size. If you don't have an exact date, then estimation is the best you can do. :)

It's possible, but probably unlikely that he's only a year old. As Argentra said, there's no way to be certain of their age.

Thanks for the replies. I kind of figured it was impossible to say. :)

In any case, a 4 foot corn should be called 'adult' right? In terms of housing etc.
