    A real crazy Noob question?
My male Eddy is Het. for Pied. When a Pied is born do they come out as white & normal? Or do they get that way as the age?
Eddy is 2 yrs. old & was kept very small. He looked like a normal.
Since i've had him & he's growing, his sides seem to be lightening up some. I'm just curious?

I have a 100% het piebald male from 8 Ball Pythons, and he looks normal. He was born June of 2006.

I'm wondering if you are familiar with the genetics of your animal.

Pieds are a recessive trait, which means that you have to have two het for pied animals breed together to make a visual pied. A visual pied will look like a pied right out of the egg.

So what you have is a male het for Pied, so to make pieds, you would need a female het for pied to breed it to to produce visuals. :)

Oh, OK I understand. Thank you. :)
Both of the parents of Eddy came from Creatures, Creatures, Creatures out of Rhode Island. They were my Sister's roommates snakes. He passed the information on to me. The Guy actually gave us 3 babies & Eddy was the only one that survived. My Boy Friend actually had all three. I just got Eddy just before Christmas. He is an awesome snake! My daughters & I really enjoy having him. Even my Cousins daughter likes him. She is no longer afraid of snakes because he is so gentle & easy to hold. :)
