    snakes yawn?
I was so confused when I saw my snake "yawn" for the first time. I even got to see him do it twice in a matter of 10 minutes! What are they actually doing? Is he tired? :P

He actually hasn't eaten in a couple weeks. I tried about a week ago but he didn't even seem interested. He isn't a big eater so I was gonna try again soon. He is currently playing on his new log I put in for him, I was just watching him and saw that he opened his mouth really wide :)

I know almost every animal can yawn, reptiles included, I always see my snake realign his jaws after a meal, but never seen him yawn randomly, or frequently. Because they have no reason to stay alert unless eating, and to cool their brain because theres not much to respond to, id say it could be him trying to get Air.

I read somewhere I don't remember exactly where on the net that snakes do this when they are trying to get a better sense of whats around them(in the air). Again I can't remember what site I seen that in but thats what it said.:)

Not to be alarmist... But I've also read that yawning can be a symptom of Respiratory Infection. But not always. My BPs yawn occasionally. If they have an RI, there will be other symptoms as well. So don't worry too much. :D

yeah they will be weezing and you will hear a popping sound coming from them. Yawning is perfectly normal (w/o weezing/popping).
