maintaining ambient air temps in tub setups..need help!!
i'm trying to make the switch from a glass tank to a plastic tub setup and i'm having issues maintaining the proper ambient temps in the plastic tub. i dont want to have to cut a hole in the lid and use a heatlamp then that would defeat my purpose of switching to the plastic tub which was to maintain ambient humidity levels without having a heatlamp killing my humidity and another thing.. i see all the racks, tub setups and what not and everyone seems to house their BPs with one hide..my question is...does the requirements change when you're dealing with plastic tubs as oppose to glass tanks???

What are your ambient temps now in the tub and in the room the tub is in?

What are you using to heat the hot side of the tube?

I had the same problem using tubs. I have ZooMed UTHs on mine, one on each end for warm and cool sides. The sides were perfect...but the ambient was in the mid 70's. I fixed that on my tubs by clipping/hanging lamps for day and night(on timers) about 8-12" above the tubs. The bulbs were only 25watt so as not to give off too much heat. It worked great!
