I need help measuring my BP
He just shed so I thought I'd try to measure him. First of all..is the shedded skin a good representation of his length?
Either way I took a picture with a cloth tape. But I keep getting wrong length. He should be at least 25 inches long...but using the snake measurer program he comes up to 23

Re: I need help measuring my BP
I am FAR from expert, but I put my snakes on the floor and put a length of string beside them, since I can't fully straighten them out... I shape the string the same as the snake is resting... and then I straighten out the string and measure that.
Re: I need help measuring my BP
The shed skin will be MUCH larger than your snake, since it stretches when they take it off.
The easiest way to measure is to use a string, like Jenna mentioned above. If you can have a friend help, that's even better.
Start at the nose and then slowly work it down their body, until you get to the tail.
You can also check out the Snake Measurer program. All it takes is a picture of your snake next to something like a ruler.
You then calibrate the program to the length of an inch (or whatever measure you find easiest)
and draw a line on the picture of the snake. It's pretty cool.

Re: I need help measuring my BP
The way I measure mine is to let it go along the trim of the floor. It will eventually straighten out and when it does I mark the tail and my friend marks the head. Then I just measure from point to point.
