    "Identical" Hides??
So for the first few weeks, my BP spent all the time on her cool side, then I cleaned out her tank pretty good, and switched her hides. After that, I noticed she was always on the warm side. So a couple nights ago, I switched the hides again, and she went back ot the cool side. So it seems that even though her hides are identical to my eyes, she still prefers one to the other!
They're both half logs (I know people say bad things about those, but I have them set up to where they're both pretty private, and they're basically a perfect size that she can be touched on both sides and the top) that are the same size, but they are different brands, so one has more bark on the outside than the other. I don't have any idea what she sees in the one hide!!
    Any ideas or suggestions?

well I did initially intend for them to be identical, I couldn't even tell they were different til they were side by side.
But maybe if I went back, I could tell them apart.
It would only be a few dollars more, and would surely be worth the peace of mind

If you are going to spend a few bucks on new hides, you could make her truly private hides very cheaply (probably for less than buying a new half log hide). I know a lot of people here recommend using the ceramic or plastic water holders that usually go on the bottom of garden pots to catch the water overflow. You can easily cut/break an opening into them and sand them down for your snake to use. You can buy them cheaply at Walmart of any home improvement store. Just a thought, ours really seem to like the little dishes.

Yeah that's actually what I was thinking about doing, although I'm concerned that if she can notice differences in things that are manufactured, what if I can't cut the entrance holes exactly identical?:weirdface
