    herpstat
I ordered a herpstat almost 2 weeks ago and it finally got here (Canadian customs held it for almost a week!), I need to pick it up at the post office tomorrow.
I was wondering if anyone had any tips for setting it up?

Is it better to have it underneath the tank on the UTH or inside the cage under the substrate where the UTH is?

I'm currently using a 'Zoo Med Repti Temp 500R' which I plan on using as a fail safe.

    Thanks in advance

I think the general consensus is to put it directly on the heating element, but wait for a double check from someone with more experience.

I have my probe on the heat tape under the cage. if you put the probe inside the cage your snake will most likly end up moveing it and your heat tape will over heat trying to keep the temp to your seting.
to bad about the customs B.S. me herpstat pro took only 2 days to show up

I keep mine right on the heat tape. Above all, be sure it is fixed extremely firmly in place wherever you place it.
