Bp-New enclosure, feeding

Hey everyone,

I am just trying to get ready for when I get the rescue I have talked about. He has been eating every 5 days, but in about two weeks I think the plan is for me to take the snake and put him in the enclosure I plan on using. It will be a short trip out of his enclosure, only a few blocks away, but since he will be going to an entirely new tank, should I still wait the week before feeding? Let's say for instance, that is is fed on a sunday, if we moved him on tuesday, would it be too early to feed again on sunday, since that is one complete feeding cycle? He has been a very good eater if that matters. Let me know what you all think. Thanks

I would try feeding him. i dont see any harm in it. every snake i have ever owned has ate for me on the first feeding attempt. most a day or 2 after getting them. that my 2 cents some my feel differently.

I also say go ahead and feed him on his scheduled day:)

Good point, although I will be feeding live. Dont worry I will we watching constantly, and I will probably only give him a few minutes, since he usually takes it in about 30 seconds.

Allright, so we found out that he has mites. PAM is on the way. Should we take care of the mite issue before we switch enclosures? It is not a problem to keep him in what is in already, so best interest of the snake is what matters.

Sometimes he takes a little longer than 30 seconds to feed, I have waited 10-15 minutes with him before. However, I fed him 2-3 days after I took him in and he ate, so I doubt there will be an issue with that.

I'm sad to find out that he has mites, he spent all day thursday soaking in his water dish.

Allright, I didn't realize he took that long. Either way, should be ok.

If you can, spray the new enclosure bedding w/the Provent A Mite, before you move him, so when you DO move him to his new tank, you're already starting to get rid of the nasty little bloodsuckers.

Wait a week for him to settle into his new home, before trying to feed him. It shouldn't hurt him to wait and he'll be less stressed from having been moved, and the new smells and textures of the new home, and less likely to refuse a meal.
