    Question on Pre-scenting
    Question...

I have 2 ball pythons - neither one is an aggressive eater. So today is feeding day and I set everything up to pre-scent the tank. Hoping this will make the feeding process go smoother. We can all dream right? Anyway, how long should I do this for? And... should I pre-scent both tanks? Meaning the one they live in and the one they will be fed in? I'm sure that question sounds so stupid - I just want to get it right. I try to keep everything in their tanks perfect, I can be a little OCD about the snakes.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Yup.... I leave the opened bag of thawed and smooshy rats in the room near the racks and cages for... I don't know, at least an hour. Then I take them back out, blast one with a hair dryer, offer it to the snake and WHAM!!! One down, 13 to go!!

no, separate tanks. I actually wanted to (and still do) house them together, but I kept getting conflicting information on the subject. So they each have their own space to live and their own feeding tanks.

1 snake per enclosure except during short meetings for breeding adults. They really do better that way and have no need of being with another snake as they aren't pack or herd creatures.

With the pre-scenting go for a good hour, if f/t rewarm them of course. If you are having issues with feeding behaviours, you may want to just feed in their own enclosures. It's a myth that this will lead to biting. If the snake wants to nail you it will...fed in it's own enclosure....fed in a seperate enclosure....because it feels like it, etc. :)

    Pre-scenting = smooth sailing

My male just ate!!!!! HOORAY!!!! The scenting thing worked like a charm. I also used a hair dryer to warm the food up prior to feeding. Now lets see if I m as lucky with the female. Got my fingers crossed. :D
