Looks awesome! Maybe push the hide on the right back a bit further so it can be entered from under the log like the left one, more secure:)

You could cover the sides to give him more security, but you have a lot of cover and good hides already, so dont worry about it too much.

Yep, I'd cover the sides too. I'd also get a Herpstat or a Helix to regulate the temps properly... It's looking good!

Looks great! If you want to, you could cover the walls, but I don't think it's necessary. There are plenty of great hiding spots and shrubbery in there to help him feel secure.

I didn't know this was a problem with them. Anyone else get mites from half logs? Whats the best way to clean them?

If you can bake the wood in the oven at a low temperature (around 150 to 200 degrees if i recall correctly) for like an hour, it should kill off any bugs. It should vaguely smell like you're roasting wood.

If they are true snake mites, it would probably be best to spray the log with Provent A Mite, let it dry out, make sure the smell is gone, and then use it.

Really? That may be the reason Kojack is soaking so often. I can't tell if he loves the water or if he has mites. I have two of the half logs (2 identical hides: 1 on the cool side, the other on the warmer) Would it matter if I treated him for mites even if he didn't? I don't know that process
