my medusa has a nasty case of scale rot. she has been to the vet and has been on injected antibiotics and silver ointment. i just dont know what to do now. she looks terrible. her belly is very crusty and dead scales are comming off but to me she looks worse than she was a week ago. she is going into a shed right now but is there anything more i can do for her? i just dont know what to do next.

Shedding will help. You'll be amazed at the amount of dead stuff that comes of with the shed. Some of the new scales will look pretty raw but as long as they are not open, you're on the way to mending.

Remember, with wounds, reptiles don't generally react as fast as mammals. It takes longer to heal and shedding is part of that process.

Post some pictures if you can. It will not only help us but you will then be able to see the improvement when you doubt there is any.

I don't know what you have for an enclosure for your snake. The only suggestion I can make, is that if you have any subrstrate like aspen or coconut husk, etc that can hold moisture to get rid of it for the time being.

In the case of scale rot you should be using dry paper towels or dry newspaper. (If you already are then ignore this lol)

I'm a newbie to ball pythons but they're on their bellies 24/7 so humid or wet substrate could be the cause of your scale rot.

Again, not sure since I don't know what kind of setup you have.

Hopefully your snake will be healthy soon!

shes on paper towls in a bare tank with only her water and her house. i am just worried is all.the parts of her belly that the dead scales have come off seems really sensitive and tend to bleed a tiny bit every so ofton especially after her bath (the vet told us to let her soak in warm water for at least 30 mins every night) before i put her ointment on. is there anything i can do to relieve some of her discomfort? i can tell she is in a bit of pain because when i put her back in her house, she looks like an over grown inch worm (lol) she wont put her belly down for at least 20 mins. i just want to know what i can do to keep treating her after she is done with her shots.
