Re: More pics of my tegus
Coool I like tegus but they get fat! lol
Re: More pics of my tegus
Sorry for highjacking but are tegus prone to fatty liver disease?
Re: More pics of my tegus
I've never heard of tegus with fatty liver disease, but I don't consider myself any sort of an expert. I can call the UF vet school and ask the vet there who specializes in exotics and reptiles.
Re: More pics of my tegus
Its just that it seem Tegus get really big(fat) like a savannah monitor and that's unhealthy.
Re: More pics of my tegus
unless pregnant i would agree, but your red looks amazing! is ur red very docile, a couple i have owned are the most amazing tegus i ever owned/worked with! they all seem to have great temperments and amazingly smart!! nice photos!
Re: More pics of my tegus
Tegus ARE a heavey bodied lizard. I think a little "excess" baggage on a Tegu is a little normal, but Noah has got a pretty large belly
Re: More pics of my tegus
I try to be sure my tegus and my monitor do NOT get obese. They are fed either every other day(light meals of 1 mouse) or every third day(2-3 mice), and I go heavy on fruit(mainly apples and grapes) in between.
If you look at other than the belly, Noah is not particularly fat elsewhere, AND today Noah decided to make a nest like den(in the rubbermaid den I put in) in the pen. Perhaps she is prego. We'll have to see. I feed by tongs, so I know Noah is not eating everyone's food too(mice, obviously, not the fruit).
Re: More pics of my tegus
