    Gravid Confusion!?!?!?!?!
this is my first attempt at a clutch and i have studied up a ton but im still kinda confused bout this. my pair had 4 solid locks.. I didnt see my girl go into ovulation or show signs, but now i think im seeing signs of her being gravid... shes fat, slow, and stayin on the hot side. is there a way of telling just by looking at her? let me know. thanks

palpating is the best way to tell. other than that she sounds like she might be gravid. when was her last shed?

if you record shed cycles that may help you find out what stage she is at.

A long shed 14-20 days is a great way to know their gravid if you have missed ovulation -- you don't catch them all. Mine almost all soak the entire 2 weeks.

Put a male in for a couple days and then offer food. If she refuses both, she is likely good to go!

I spent some time last night palpating my girls and you can really tell what stage they are in. One girl I could feel 6 or so nice sized eggs, so her due date (30 days past POS) of 5/1 is right on. Another I felt 4 hard golf balls, so I put the male back in and sure enough, they are locked this morning. It is easier to feel eggs in the 1500-1700gm girls. My largest female, Bertha, is 2700+ and she is showing all the signs of being gravid, but I can't feel anything....
