Shed question.. maybe a lil diffrent?

Hey all well my ball had his first shed about 1 month ago. All went pretty well. Alot had to do with me not being prepaired and knowing what was needed. So orion went for a long swim and poof shed was done. But now I have seen some left over lil pieces left in one of his vents. This concernes me. It is not blocking breathing but I can see it. What do I do? Do I just watch it and wait for this next shed which seems to be about here again cause he's a fatty? Or do I try to remove it and chance on hurting him? HELP

Funny, pretty much the same question asked in two threads about 3 minutes apart... So, here's my answer to the other individual who posted about it, copied and pasted into your thread... ;) :D

It very well could be retained shed in the nostril, but it's impossible to tell without looking at the snake. If it is indeed retained shed, you could try a 15 minute soak in luke-warm water, then CAREFULLY use a pair of tweezers to remove the offending piece of skin... If you're not comfortable doing that, you should be ok to wait until the next shed. Just make sure to up the humidity to 60-70% so you get a good, full shed next time...

What do you mean by vent?

The Vent is the tail area aka "poop chute"

Oh? I always thought the "vents" were the many "squares" or breathing holes around the mouth for when they eat they can still breathe. Please tell me if I am wrong so I dont look stupid talking about my ball to peeps.

Those little pits on his upper lip are the heat scensors that he uses to tell food from fingers. :D

Although if you can get it out GENTLY, I would suggest trying with a wet Q-tip.

If not, leave it for the next shed.

Just so you don't feel alone... I'm a newb and thought the heat pits were called the vent as well. :P
