Breeding life of a male corn?
What is the oldest a male corn snake can be and still successfully breed? I know this has been asked for BPs, but what about corns?

I ask because it seems I'll have a few years to wait before my two little girls are old/big enough to breed, and my two males are already of proper age and weight. My Ghost is 2 years old and 530g, and my Amel is 1 year old and over 300g. Will they still be going strong when my girls are ready?

yes but male corns grow faster than females, big males sometimes don't breed well with smaller female, slow down on feeding the males up the females, but keep them healthy.

The biggest corn stud in my collection is 11 years old.

Ah, good to hear. :) I was considering keeping the boys (especially my 530g ghost) on one adult mouse/7 days to keep them from getting too huge as it is. And with the girls, since I can't really feed them any more often than I am now (which is every 5 days) I'll just make sure they're getting the largest prey item they can comfortably handle each feeding.

    Thanks for the info!

Not always true :colbert:.I had a male that was 2+ times larger then my females and he bred them both with ease.;).It also not a good idea to "power" feed the females just to get them larger. If you just keep them on a steady diet they will live longer and breed well :gj:

I don't know what size mice you're feeding your girls, but if they're adults, I might back off on the frequency of feedings to every 5 days. It gets pretty easy for the girls to get "pudgy" if fed too frequently. And in my experience its better to have a nice lean but not thin female as opposed to a overweight one.

Yeah, puggy females are never a good plan. Overweight females usually egg bind more frequently.

Heh... they eat newborn pinkys and lg fuzzies, respectfully, every five days because they are TINY! :) My Anery is @65g and my HypoBlood is only @6g. That's my whole problem! If they were adults, I wouldn't need to wait 2-3 years to start breeding my corns...hence the question of how old/large males can be to still breed effectively. :D I want my boys to still be able to work effectively in that long a time.

My post above should say "wait every 7 days..."

But yeah, if they're 65g and 6g, then every 5 days is just fine! Your male will be just fine 3 years from now.

:D Thanks for the confirmation. I'll just do what I can with them to keep them healthy and happy till then.
