    Question about sideway racks
I have seen some decent inexpensive sideways racks. Most of them have a single strip of heat tape running the entire length of the tub on one side. Does this offer the correct heat gradient?

The heat gradient is dependant on your own temps in the room and on the thermostat, but in general, they do work well.

I have them and I like them alot.

I have a sideways rack with 4 inch flexwatt running on the back of each tub (or side really). As stated the gradient all depends on your room temperatures. My sideways rack provides less heat gradient, which works much better for me because my room is on the cool side (about 70 degrees). For a room that is too cool, the sideways rack seems to work better. hope this helps

I could have the same problem as I am currently in Michigan. Luckily the heat is included in my rent so I keep the apartment a comfortable 75-77 degrees.

Brings up another question: How hot should you set the T-stat? Normally people would keep it at about 90 and let some of the heat spread to the cooler side. Would you have to turn it down to about 87? or is the front of the tub still a good temp in the low 80s

http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...lespics046.jpg My rack takes the 32qt sideways & 15qt. straight in the 32 qt. with the heat the whole lenth stays warmer & seems to be better that way,82-83 in the front & 93-95 in the back,15qts stay around 90-92 inthe back & room temp or just above in the front maybe 78-80.snakes in both stay about 87-88 checked with my temp. gun.

    Hey Greg,
I really like your rack. That is one of the rack I am considering. While I like the number of slots that it has, I don't want to get tempted with actually filling the rack. I wonder if I could have him make one with only 3-4 slots.
