So I've joined the "Escaped Snake" club.
I want over to Levi's tank, ready for some snakey snuggles, and I notice his shop towel substrate was pushed completely off to the middle, exposing the uth. His substrate moving tendencies have caused problems before, so I lifted his big clay hide to look for him and check for burns.
No snake.
I cursed loudly, looked in the snake stuff that's kept behind his tub, not there. Moved a box next to the couch, and I see a big fat Levi nose sticking out from under the couch. My roommate lifted the couch so I could grab him.
He's rather cold, and is hanging out around my neck so he warms up and is exploring as usual. Now I have to wait for his substrate to dry, since his last tub change was the end of my last roll and I can't get anymore until I get paid tomorrow.
It looks like he has a burn or something at the end of his tail, probably from climbing out on a hot uth. :irkd: I'm going to smear antibiotic ointment on it and keep an eye on it...
I'm probably going to have to get him a different tub, too, since one of the handles on the lid of his seems to be broken. Blargh.
Re: So I've joined the "Escaped Snake" club.
Glad you found him. It's nerve racking when they go AWOL. And at least tubs are cheap if that's any consultation to needing a new one.
Re: So I've joined the "Escaped Snake" club.
It seems he escaped for a good reason! I had to move his tub to under a table for the space conservation, and the airflow is so bad down there his tub was getting way too hot! I feel so bad about not noticing earlier. :( He seems fine, curious and "affectionate" as always. I turned off his UTH for now, and am letting the heat lamp do the work since that's off the floor and isn't going to hold extra heat, which seemed to be the problem.
Sigh. :( Can't wait to move.
