My girl kara is my nicest snake. Today though i went to pick her up and she hissed and hid her head under her body. So i put an oven mit on an d picked her up to investigate. she looked fine except for the fact that her jaw was crooked. she was flicking her tongue just like normal. Other than that she was a bit sik so the vet put her on injections of baytril. Do you think she just doesn't want her shots i dont know what to do. :(:(

Sounds just a bit grumpy and stressed to me. I'd leave her be for a while unless your vet gave you other instructions. =)

well i just called. I forgot one key factor today is feeding day. The vet said to give her meds and if the jaw isnt strait by tomorrow give them a call.

I can't imagine what kind of snake would want or like having shots !;) Just let it crawl around for a while on the bed or something and see she yawns and aligns it's jaws if that doesnt work ask the vet to check her teeth and mouth

ya it did align i decided she jus didnt want to get stabbed so i picked her up and held her for a while although she wasnt all to happy at first. she's fine now. i just gave her the last ahot an hour ago shes really good about it. =] i know if someone 20 times the size of me stabbed me i'd be pretty pissed but she just ignores it and goes on her way.

Thor, the snake is ill, she's getting shots and it's feeding day. Why wouldn't she hiss? This isn't hissing "alot", it's just hissing. These aren't domesticated animals and heck even a very domesticated pet like a dog is occasionally quite able to growl or otherwise object to something. Fact is snakes hiss.

Zelda will occasionally hiss at me~ it is her way of saying: I don't feel like being held now; could you try again later please? ;)
