    Pre-Lay Shed?
My question is: Do all females have a color changed or a certain glow about them after their pre-lay shed? Or is that more or less like an Urban Legend? Because from what I hear it happens rarely, but when it does it's really drastic. Is this true?

I've had one so far that's glowed (out of 3) and it's BEFORE the pre-lay shed, not after. This is her before her glow:

    and during her glow:

I don't know yet if I'll see a glow with the other two - they are both in shed, but I don't believe it to be their pre-lay shed yet - so I might yet see a glow with both of them as well.

Yeah well the reason I ask is that my female that I think (hope) is gravid has really started to get a glow about her color almost like a translucent shell to her scales or something. And now she is laying on her side soaking in the water dish. So I assume she's gravid, and about to start her pre-lay shed.

We had 3/3 girls glow noticeably this year before their pre-lay shed. Definitely not just a urban legend!

Most glow and if she is soaking and stays their for more than a week she is most likely gravid. Good luck. P.S. I have missed a few ovulations and I look fothe the soaking 10-15 days as pre pre-lay shed.

I finally got around to taking a few pictures of her. You guys can tell me what you think... but she's still laying on her side.. and she has been in the water dish for 2 days straight now, so i'm pretty sure she's gravid.

This is the glow I was talking about... Her whole body looks like this when she isn't in the water.

If she is soaking now she probably is getting ready for her pre-lay shed. After that she should spend lots of time coiled up on the warm side as she is getting closer to lay.

look at her color now and after her next shed, should be lighter and the head blushing more intense.
