Anybody ever have bugs in their wood?
So, I've had this grapevine branch for a couple of weeks and who knows how long it was at the pet shop. Last night my son says, "Dad, there's saw dust all over the top of Ekko's hide". I go and look at what he's talking about and there are these perfect little holes in the wood over where the sawdust is. I think, "Oh no, I've brought termites into my house!". We'll it turns out that when I went to get a screw driver to take the branch out with, when I came back, there was this little evil bug looking out at me. When he saw me, he ducked his head back in his hole! So, I took the wood out and put it on my deck until I could get back from work today, and now the wood is in my oven which is cooking at 400 degrees. I'm not sure exactly how long I'm going to leave it in there but I'm sure it'll be in there long enough to kill the bugs.
Just wondering if anybody has ever dealt with this. It's not like I went out to the woods and brought this thing home. Just kind of suprised that's all.:O

When Furio had mites I baked all of his wood stuff at 300 for about 2 hours actually. Just for some reassurance. I think Combustion for most woods is up over 1,000 degrees.

It's smelling rather "woodsy" in the house now. The things been in the oven for about a half hour now.

Yeah, it'll make the house smell nice. Just keep checkin' on the wood every about 15-20 minutes.

I had hundreds of little flying bugs in a jungle gym with spanish moss a while ago.

I don't think that these things can fly. I'm not sure. I do know that one was holed up and not coming out. His mistake, now he's baked bug. I'm just concerned that they may have transferred over to the enclosure. I just made it and it houses two balls.

Ok, it's been a few hours. If they aren't dead now, NASA should send them to Mars!

Just disinfect/clean the tank/tub and you'll be all good.
