Hello,
So I am racing my first half-ironman in October and was hoping to find someone local that could offer advice on where to stay, transportation, etc.... Anyone in the area????

Hey Cue,
So the race is touting the Austin Sheraton as the place to stay, but being a poor grad student, I'm not really down for $300 a night. Do you know of any more affordable places to stay (read this as motel 6) in the area near Walter E Long Park (where the race is)??
Ideally, I'd rather not have to drive to the race if there is somewhere within 2 miles to stay. Ideas??
Cheers,
Kat

300 doll hairs :O
That Sheraton is lame anyways
I know there is a Golden Nugget motel that is about 3 miles from the park that is WAY more reasonable. I'll check it out for ya :gj:

My Aunt is going to be donig that event. You're hard core! I can't say what hotel is good there, but Austin is awesome! I was born there, and visit it frequently.

Nice, your aunt must rock. I'm pretty stoked about it, even though it's months away. The first race of the season is in 3 weeks, so there are lots of long lonely rides in my future. Although it does give me the interesting advantage of being able to herp along the way. I moved 2 gopher snakes off rural roads this morning....
PS If your aunt does rock, I sincerely hope she's not in my age group....... ha ha ha
Cheers,
Kat
