COLORADO - anyone to help me pop/probe?
Well my daughter and I would like to know if we have boys or girls here. I called my local "herp vet" (I am in Colorado Springs) and they said they could only probe "larger" snakes. Both of our snakes are about 22" long babies. Anyone know someone near me that could help us out?

Have you watched the videos about how to pop? I know he makes it look really easy, but after my new snake has been here for a few months, I think I'm gonna try.

You can pop newborns! You won't hurt them.... Just watch the videos and give it a shot! It really is easy and, if anything, you'll be so gentle that it won't work!!!

From what I've seen, it's actually easier to pop young snakes than older ones. I can't do it myself, but I go to the nearby Scales N Tails in Northglenn where the owner and assistant manager are quite skilled in the sexing of snakes... of any size. :)

Bit far from the Springs... but you said Colorado. :D Good luck finding someone closer, tho.

Hmm I don't know if I am comfortable trying it myself but maybe I will watch the vids. Northglen seems too far, but so far it is the closest. Maybe someone will chime in from the Springs.

The CSU vet hospital has a reptile vet who can do it correctly. But that is very far from you.

As a fell new owner, I was really nervous about popping but I gave it a shot after watching both videos a few time and it was surprisingly easy. I highly reccommend watching and going for it..

But whatever you do, don't try amateur probing!
