Disgusting

I'm sorry, but I take offense to the fact that you call it disgusting.

In Chinese Culture, people do that with snakes in wine.

It is considered a medicine.

It may not be appealing to you, but it is a part of a long standing culture, and should not be judged like that.

Granted, this rancher may not be Chinese, but still... Judge not lest ye be judged.

yep, and my dad takes medication for his cancer that is made from snake venom.

I think that is pretty disgusting also. I hear what you other guys are saying but pythontricker has a right to his/her own opinion about this practice. Yes there are cultural practices that have been going on of this sort and I'm in no way saying they should be stopped. On the other hand this guy is trying to get rich buying cheap booze and throwing a snake in it. I agree that its disgusting and a waste, thats not saying Im slandering the rancher who did this. This is pretty far from using snake venom for medical reasons (cancer treatment, antivenom, or anything else), so Im going to have to disagree with you there. The bottom line to each his own opinion, and nonone has to become the "police" and lecture people on not judging others. No need to get offended because pythontricker doesnt agree with this practice.

Opinions, yes. Blatant judgements, no.

I think its quite cool!!!!! I would love to try it as well. I have taken a shot with a little cobras blood in it, (didnt do anything). But I have read about this and seen it on tv, and the venom actually enhances the alcohol

Or does the alcohol enhance the venom :O:O

I agree that people shouldnt blatently judge anything also, but that doesnt mean I have some responsibility to stop it from happening. Python tricker said it was "disgusting", which can be percieved many ways. If someone wanted you to drink it, you might think it was "disgusting" also. This doesnt mean a total cultural "diss" or anything that offensive to anyone.

They also eat dogs in China, but while they belong in what we would call the dog family here they are different than what we would think of as a family pet type dog! As long as the animal is uthanized in a humane way I don't see a problem. If I did see a problem then I guess I would have to become a vegitarian as lots of different animals are slaughtered every year for food, beverage, and scientific studies. Dang did I say Scientific Studies? I'm glad it doesn't offend me cause all those fancy medications your doctor gives you have been tested on animals first that had to be uthanized to study thier organs and see if any damage was being done to them and how much! Thank goodness they do these studies on animals or some of the medications used in your family possibly to save their lives wouldn't be here or maybe something who's effects were unknown would have been used on you or me at some point while we were getting medical treatment.

I did it in China when I was there and the snakes aren't venomous. I also tried Turtle Shell Jelly, Frog soup, and some interesting seafood.

None of it that bad... I wouldn't go out looking for it, but definately interesting enough to try once.

I acutally had a neighbor when i was like 6 who made turtle shell jelly....cant say that i like that gunk
