What's that nose made of?

I've always wondered what a hognose's nose is made of, because darn, that thing is hard! When Charon was trying to dig under my arm, it felt like pins & needles. I really doubt that thing is made of keratin (what snake skin is made of).

Darn, I'm not getting anywhere with this topic...

Is the nose a bone?
