Hi, I'm new to the site and BP's in general. I currently have 15 corns and I am breeding 4 of the females this year. Anyway I'd like some opinions as to the BEST Ball Python book out there!!! Something comprehensive that includes morphs and breeding? Thanks, in advance,
    Kyle:)

You'll have to drop a little change to get the decent books...anything cheaper is just your run of the mill pet store book. It took me a while to pony up the cash for the books, but I just look at it this way-the more educated you are, the less likely you are to run into problems with your herps, hence the less money you have to spend on vet bills.

We've got the VPI, Vol II book and I can tell you we'll be reading and referring to it for years to come. We also have their BP DVD and it's another very valuable, often referred to part of our growing snake information library.

I can't wait to get Kev's (NERD) book!

Now if I could only convince Adam from 8Ball to put his great video's on DVD so I could watch them on my TV instead of this crummy computer!

I bought Kevin McCurley's The Complete Ball Python book and I loved it! Easy to read and comprehend, and has beautiful photos. I decided to buy it from his website because for only $7 more than it's going for on eBay I was able to get him to sign it, which makes it so much more personal! :gj:
But one note about this book: It was published in 2005, so I feel that an update may be coming since there's been so many more morphs created during those last 3-4 years.

I also went and borrowed a bunch of BP books from the library, and they were all pretty basic...and old. In fact one that was published in 2001 mentioned that there were only about 10 BP morphs out there, and that they may catch the eye of the public...but the author doubted that they would because "these morphs only appeal to eclectic tastes". :O

So yes, those library books were dated. :D

May I ask how much breeding and egg incubation info is in either of the VPI books? And is one better than the other for breeding info? I only wish NERD's book had more thorough information of this subject...it was good, just not extensive.

    Thanks!
