TIRED of wated food!!! WITH PICS!
Got pretty tired of filling the food bowl, just to come back 5 minutes later to see the lil @#%$#! have kicked out all the food to make a bed out of their feed bowl. So I took 2 steps....

1.) I ordered a hundred pounds of Mazuri 6F rodent feed for 48 dollars....

2.) For a total of $6 created feed dispencers for all 6 of my 10 gallon tanks.

Beckys rat mix works in them... but not very well. Lots of the ingredients are too small so they fall out pretty easily.... But that is the reason for number 1.)!!!!!! Will be here in 2 weeks.

I made each of the feed dispencers from one solid peace of 1/2" hardware cloth cut in the right places... 10 zip ties on each one... 8 of wich are completely out of the little teeths reach. If you play with a piece of paper, you can figure out the cuts pretty easy.... If you need help shoot me an IM and I will give you the details. It hangs over the top just like a traditional water bottle holder.

NO MORE WASTED FOOD! What do you think?

In case you are wondering, the hardware cloth was measured so it goes all the way up to touching the top screen. they can NOT climb into it from the top. (the pics don't show this)

As long as they can eat the food out of it, it's brilliant. Congrats!

Wasting food has got to be the question on most of our mind EVERY TIME we clean the tubs:rolleye2:

I wonder how many readers are like myself -- banging my head and saying "Why didn't I think of that??!!"

    Thanks for the GREAT IDEA!!!!:bow::bow::gj:

Man....this thing can even reclaim precious floor space!!!!

:taz::taz::please::please::(:(:( The only disappointing thing is this post come one day late ---- I just bought new food trays for all 10 of my tubs yesterday!!!!

Lol, you've never seen the 6 sides to make a cube laid out? It's the exact same, just longer.

    I guess I should also try to explain. I used the 1/2" hardware, and I made my hoppers 2 x 2 x 8.

The hardware cloth is easier to bend for me instead of making a bunch of cuts. I cut pieces 12 squares wide by 10 inches long. Bent it into a square, cut off the excess, wired it together.

That probably doesnt make any sense to anyone but me. :P

I will have to take pics of the assembly... very difficult to explain but I will try.

I used a piece of 1/2" hardware cloth that was 9" x 24". (looking at it long ways) make your first fold at 9 inches. then make your next fold 2 1/2 inches from the first.... you just made the front, bottom, and back. I cut 7 sqares off of back side on both left and right side... then you fold the front on both sides to create the sides of the feeders. the extra three inches on the back top are what i bent to hang over the tank edge.

Sorry guys, very difficult to put into words. did this make sense to anyone? try it with a piece of paper first... it will make sense then.
