    ok, so a lot of you think my first mom was an axe murderer...so, here is my #2 mom, she is the first to conceive and deliver under my care. THIS is more like it! 13!

    will do. One was a runt, you can see her in the bottomish left corner under the moms tail. she was the size of a nickel. I imagine she'll be gone by morning.

    ok, apparently there were 14 originally. There are 13 now, one was the runt. So, almost 24 hours later and we have 100% survivors from the nonrunts! Sweet!

    Your bedding looks a little messy, id get something bigger so not so much sticks to them. Id imagine if the mom cleaned them off she could eat some of it. If it could hurt the babys if it dryed up and came off.Other than that, great litter!

    I would get some different bedding, something that won't stick to the pinkies and rip their skin if it dries on and gets pulled off. I've had good luck with ripped up pieces of newspaper(just for the nest, aspen for the rest of the cage), pieces of fleece or felt. Just so it's not carefresh, that junk blocks their nostrils and is so dusty it's useless. The SaniChips just don't work well with baby rats.

    ok, update. We lost one, but we are going strong. this mom is good. everybody is cleaned up and nursing great! 12 healthy babies!
